Weaving and Rugelach

IMG_1006.jpg

I spent 25 plus years working with and around textile weavers and printers.

I learned the language of the weaving trade. To make a woven fabric of any kind you need a loom and on that loom is the warp and the weft

The warp is the base, the foundation for creative options. The weft is what you weave in to enhance the pattern, make it special and remarkable.

I started with a terrifically rich, traditional warp of butter, cream cheese and flour and began to make many filling variations using different combinations of scrumptious ingredients (the weft colors).

There are endless possible combinations to be had.  I engaged the help of two very enthusiastic taste testers. My beloved niece Hannah and her dear friend Benjamin. For many weeks and months, in covid-proper attire and distancing, they would come over to the house and taste-test samples outside on the back porch as Spring turned to Summer.

There came a point in time when we all decided enough with the samples.

This is the first collection of our Rugelach made up of four favorite flavors, all made by me.

Enjoy!
