I am a true nosher.
I think my noshing started for me when I was old enough, and tall enough to see that there was this fantastic help-yourself nut dispenser on our kitchen counter.
It dispensed just the perfect amount to satisfy a craving moment, any time of day. This marvelous dispenser of my youth was apparently procured from the deeply discounted returns department at Marshall Field’s. Sadly some of its rhinestones (rhinestones?) are missing but it still works!
As a friend of our bakery, you can tell that nuts play a major role in our recipes. My apologies to those that cannot eat, or do not enjoy a good handful of nuts.
I wanted to incorporate my love for a nosh, nuts and the craving we all have for an exceptional cracker - something crispy to enjoy all by itself or spread with anything from peanut butter to humus to cream cheese. The perfect vehicle for a piece of salami or lox. Having the cracker be “good for you” was an added bonus.
With a great deal of experimentation, I landed on my version of a Pecan Raisin Crisp.
This cracker is my riff on a compilation of recipes. Given the ingredients I feel my noshing choices have now been expanded to a cracker that is both healthy and very tasty.
I invite you try them as a snack or alongside your favorite dips, spreads and noshes at your holiday parties.
Nosh on!
